TryBluff Editorial and Calculation Methodology

TryBluff publishes poker study tools and educational material at www.trybluff.com. Articles attributed to TryBluff Team use a collective organization byline. This page describes the methods and limitations behind the public examples and tools.

Editorial scope and corrections

Our public product descriptions distinguish released functionality, account eligibility, usage limits and unavailable features. Registration is open; new paid checkout is paused. The river study overview describes the limited released model instead of implying full-game solving. Substantive review dates describe content changes; rebuilding the website does not constitute a new editorial review.

For a correction, contact support@trybluff.com with the page URL, the statement in question and the inputs or source that would allow us to check it. Avoid including private player identifiers or account secrets. The help center, privacy policy and terms provide additional product and account information.

Worked-example provenance

The public AI coaching example uses a constructed sample hand run through TryBluff's real hand analyzer from a founder account on 2026-06-22. The published source contains generic player labels and no customer identifiers. The excerpt is historical model output, not a customer testimonial, a guarantee of present output, or independently certified poker strategy.

The accompanying arithmetic is explicit: a $150 call facing a $150 bet into $207 produces a $507 final pot and a 150 / 507 ≈ 29.6% break-even equity requirement, ignoring rake. This calculation checks the price; it does not establish the opponent's range or make the call correct.

Calculator methods and limits

The equity calculator estimates expected share of the pot for the supplied cards or supported range, including split pots. For specific hands, preflop calculations sample boards and postflop calculations enumerate legal outcomes. Preflop range values use lookup approximations and heuristics; postflop range calculations enumerate legal combinations and runouts. The result identifies its method. Sample counts are not fixed accuracy guarantees. Its result is conditional on those inputs. Verify card entry, known board cards and range weights before interpreting it as support for a decision. Equity alone does not account for future betting, fold equity or tournament payouts.

The pot odds calculator compares the call amount with the final pot including that call. Break-even equity ignores rake and future action unless these are explicitly modeled; distinguish a closing river call from a draw that still faces future betting.

The ICM calculator uses remaining chip stacks and payouts to estimate tournament prize equity under the Independent Chip Model. Include all remaining players within the tool's ten-player limit. ICM does not model differences in skill, future blind pressure or bounty value. Comparing stack distributions is not a call/fold solver.

AI explanations and numerical studies

AI coaching is text generated from provided context and can make mistakes. Ask which facts are observed, which ranges are assumed, and which quantities were actually calculated. Verify numerical claims with the relevant tool. Review decisions against the information available at the time rather than grading them only by the result.

The native river study models supported heads-up chip-EV games using explicit ranges and legal sizes. Its two authored Practice exercises have fixed continuation assumptions. Earlier streets, rake, multiway, ICM and bounties are excluded. A finite-model check does not prove full-game correctness or real-world profitability.
