Heads-up isn't just "6-max with fewer players." It's a structurally different game — much wider ranges (BTN opens 80%+), much higher c-bet frequencies, and lines that don't exist in 6-max (donk leads at 20-30% on the right textures). If you're moving from 6-max to HU and using your 6-max instincts, you're leaving 5-10 BB/100 on the table.

Wider preflop ranges drive everything

HU 100bb opening ranges:
- BTN opens ~80% of hands (vs. 6-max BTN ~50%).
- BB defends ~70% of hands vs. BTN open (vs. 6-max BB ~55%).
These wider ranges flow into postflop:
- Both players have weaker average hand strength on the flop.
- Range advantage is much closer (no one has a strong "I'm the PFR with QQ+/AK" range).
- Equity edges are smaller; equity REALIZATION matters more.

HU c-bet frequencies are dramatically higher than 6-max.
6-max IP c-bet frequencies (BTN vs. BB SRP):
- Dry, range-favoring board (A72r): ~75% c-bet, small size.
- Wet, board-favoring-OOP (765tt): ~30% c-bet.
- Average across boards: ~55%.
