Build the betting range from preflop action, board and size. Then divide the call by the final pot including your call. Before the river, ask how often later pressure prevents showdown: raw equity is not guaranteed winnings. Top pair, direct draws and backdoors have different ways to realize equity; a backdoor needs help on both remaining cards.

Before calling, name useful improvements, manageable blanks and cards that strengthen the bettor. Reassess the actual turn and new size. A raise needs worse calls, better folds, or a credible equity-denial benefit; “finding out” is insufficient. Against a reliable value-only barrel, release a hand that was strong enough to call the flop.
