River, monotone spade board. You hold A♠K♣. Villain checks. You're considering a bluff — and the A♠ is the single most important card in your hand. Not because it's an ace. Because villain CAN'T have the nut flush. This is blocker theory: the cards in YOUR hand prevent villain from having specific combos. Master this, and your bluff selection stops being a vibe and becomes math.

There are 4 suits × 13 ranks = 52 cards. Pairs come in 6 combos. Unpaired hands come in 16 combos (4 suited + 12 offsuit).
Villain's preflop calling range vs your 3-bet on this hand contains 12 combos of A♠X — but you have A♠. Those combos drop to 0 — villain simply cannot hold the nut flush. Apply it across the river:

Block calls, unblock folds

The rule has two parts. Both matter.
Part 1 — Block calls: Pick hands that contain cards villain calls with. On a monotone-spades river, villain calls with A♠X (nut flush) and KK / sets. Holding A♠ removes the nut-flush calls. Holding Q♣J♣ blocks QJ/JT no-spade floats — hands villain FOLDS to the shove. You've blocked folds (bad). The K♠, by contrast, blocks K-high flushes that mostly CALL.
